Ivanka Trump has shot down critics of her father's treatment of women in a new interview, insisting her dad Donald is 'a feminist'.
The 34-year-old mom recently spoke to theSunday Times, telling them that despite all the much-criticized comments her father has made about women, that he is anything but a misogynist.
'People talk about gender equality,' she told the paper. 'He has lived it, he has employed women at the highest levels of the Trump Organization for decades, so I think it’s a great testament to how capable he thinks women are and has shown that his whole life.'
The 70-year-old presumptive Republican nominee has been targeted by critics over his questionable comments about women since beginning his race for the White House last year.
In August, he faced a media storm after facing Fox News host Megyn Kelly's questions about his past comments about women, using terms such as 'fat pigs, dogs, slobs, disgusting animals'.
Trump responded after the fact claiming that the line of questioning was unfair and that the host had 'blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.'
Yet his daughter insists that Donald is a champion of women, saying: 'He always told me and showed me that I could do anything I set my mind to if I married vision and passion with work ethic.
'He’s also surrounded me with strong female role models who have done just that since I was a little girl.”
Trump is currently trailing likely opponent for the presidency Hillary Clinton in the polls, particularly among women.
