Morocco’s innovator, entrepreneur Issam Darui Online Bus Portal

 

 

Morocco’s first online bus portal that offers services and content on road transportation including bus schedules was brought to life by 22-year-old university student.

Issam Darui, a third year student at the Universite Mohammed Premier-Oujda came up with Lagare.ma which can be accessed by smartphones and computers. The portal is available in 10 languages and 25 currencies providing efficient travel services for the first time in Morocco, with schedules to over 150 destinations – in Morocco and the European Union.

 

It was established on March 15, 2014 and it was launched by E-gare LLC and just after two years, the young company, which aims to participate in the digitalization of the road, has already won the award for best Moroccan Ecommerce platform (2015). In 2014, it was selected as one of the Top 5 Best Startups in Morocco, the best startup in the eastern Moroccan region, and was selected among the top 5 mobile applications.
The platform has provided services to 2.4 million passengers and recorded the entry of 33,000 customers. The company made sales volume reaching 2.2m Moroccan Dirham (approx. $230,000) in 2015.

 

At 13 years old, Issam’s elder brother became a professional bus driver. Pretty soon, he started working as a driver’s assistant during the holidays. His experiences resulted in his desire to establish Lagare.ma, the first electronic bus station in Morocco. He presently employs 3 people, and since inception, Lagare.ma has received traffic of over 2.4 million unique visitors, of which over 25,000 are registered loyal customers.
Issam’s venture is impacting lives by making public transportation a lot more convenient.
