Samsung says it is suspending sales of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone after finding batteries of some of the gadgets exploded while they were charging.

In a statement the South Korean company said it would take about two weeks to prepare replacement devices.

The president of Samsung mobile business Koh Dong-jin said that the customers who had already returned the Note 7 will be able to switch them for new smartphones, regardless of the purchasing date.

Samsung said it has sold more than 1 million Note 7 smartphones since the product’s launch.
This comes after several customers who had purchased the Note7 complained of the explosion of the phone while charging.

Samsung said it had confirmed 35 cases of phones catching fire or exploding while charging, caused by faulty batteries.
