Nigeria’s Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said Monday Nigeria was seeking more collaboration with the Export-Import Bank of China (China Exim) to increase trade between the two countries.

Adeosun said this in Abuja, the country’s capital, during an audience with visiting Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming.

She thanked the minister for the support of the bank and other partners from the country, which had financed some very important projects for Nigeria.
Adeosun said Nigeria was emerging from one of the most challenging periods of its economic history recently, and there were opportunities to be tapped in agriculture, industrialization, health, manufacturing, education and infrastructure.
She said the Nigerian government is building its economy by focusing on infrastructure, following China’s example.
Qian said the goal of the visit was to co-host the sixth session of the Trade and Economic Technical Commission with Nigeria.
“The theme of this session is to implement the consensus reached by the two leaders during their three meetings in the last one year, especially during the state visit by President Muhammadu Buhari in April,” he added.
Qian said he had discussed with ministers and other delegates from Nigeria how the two countries could push forward their cooperation.
