A source said the ministry gave the substitute imams the option to either transfer to the position of a full-time imam leading five prayers a day at a mosque or to leave their job all together.

The 31 year old suffers from Werdnig-Hoffman Disease, a rare and often fatal genetic disorder that breaks down muscles and kills nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, confining him to a wheel chair and restricting him to feeding and typing only.
