When it came time to find a host for the Barefoot Wine Love Party in New York City, Erika Girardi (aka Erika Jayne) was the obvious choice.
A longtime LGBT supporter and an icon within the gay community, Erika, 44, was “all about love and all about New York City Pride” at Arena on Wednesday. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star introduced performers such as Bob the Drag Queen and Latrice Royale from RuPaul’s Drag Race throughout the night and, of course, belted out a few hits of her own.
“I always try to bring a smile to everyone’s face with my music,” Erika told Yahoo Celebrity before getting Barefoot’s seventh New York City Pride party started. “I want people to forget their troubles, forget their reality, come to the dance floor, and have a good time.”
Although RHOBH fans might know Erika better as Yolanda Hadid’s trusted friend and the newbie of Season 6, she first entered the club music scene nine years ago as her badass alter ego Erika Jayne. She released her song “Roller Coaster” in 2007 and has since racked up eight No. 1 tracks on the Billboard dance charts.
“Obviously, being on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills brought more awareness to Erika Jayne and brought her out of the clubs and into people’s living rooms,” she explained. “I’m very thankful for that. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience.”
Erika is now on her way to reaching her ninth No. 1 hit with her latest single “How Many F***s.” The song is a club hit that encourages people to leave the hate behind and just dance — a message that hits home in the LBGT community.
