Families of EgyptAir crash victims to get advance compensation

egyptair

Families of the 66 people killed in last month’s EgyptAir plane crash into the Mediterranean will be offered advance compensation payment of $25,000, the airline’s authorities said on Monday.

The payments are separate from those expected from Insurance companies on behalf of various parties depending on the investigation into the disaster.
The Airbus A320 operating Flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo disappeared from radar screens between the Greek Island of Crete and the north coast of Egypt on May 19.
30 of the passengers on board were Egyptians, 15 were French, two were Iraqis, another two were Canadians, while the rest were a Brit, Algerian, Belgian, Chadian, Portuguese, Saudi Arabian and Sudanese.
Seven crew and three security personnel were also on board.
Investigators have said it is too early to determine what caused the plane to crash, although a terror attack has not been ruled out.
