Yeezy traffic jam! Kanye West caused chaos in the streets of Manhattan in the early morning hours on Monday. After performing at the Hot 97 Summer Jam, the 38-year-old rapper informed his fans that he would be holding a surprise concert at Webster Hall at 2 a.m.
West announced the show to make up for his canceled Governors Ball show from this weekend, after the majority of the festival’s scheduled lineup was canceled due to inclement weather. Devoted Yeezy disciples quickly rushed to the smaller venue, crowding the streets.
Kim Kardashian Snapchatted her hubby on the phone where he could be overheard saying, “Call the Mayor and shut down the block about four streets, so they can have a party outside. I know it’s sold out already.”>
As the crowds grew in size, the show was canceled with some reports of near-riot conditions. Webster Hall tweeted, “There is no late night show at Webster Hall tonight. Please get home safely.”
Fans in the crowd tweeted about the experience, seemingly still having a blast despite the lack of an actual concert.
