China to build new parliament for Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe and China have signed an agreement worth $46 million in an effort to construct a new parliament building in Mt Hampden.

The agreement was signed by Macro Economic planning and investment promotion minister during a visit to China to follow up on Chinese plans to invest in the southern African state.

The envoy, Zhang Ming, was quoted as saying the new building was a donation to Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is among six countries in Africa with which the Asian economic giant had signed framework agreements for production capacity co-operation.

China has signed deals worth billions of dollars with Zimbabwe in various sectors in the last two years including; infrastructure in energy and power, rail roads and housing.
