No broken hearts here! On Sunday, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton performed their duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” at the Billboard Music Awards, but they looked more like teenagers in love than adults whose marriages had recently fallen apart.
Shelton began the song solo and looked downright giddy when Stefani walked out to join him on stage at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
For her part, the 46-year-old singer was nothing short of glowing as she cooed, “How did you get me so into you?” at her new beau. In fact, from the moment she was beside him on stage until the end of the song, they never looked away from each other, instead opting to stare deep into each other’s eyes.
As Stefani belted out her part, Shelton supportively mouthed along to the words and as he sang, she flirtatiously smiled back. While there was no outright lip-lock, it was one of the most dramatic PDAs of the night.
The Voice co-stars first debuted their duet on May 9 on the show that brought them together. That performance began much the same way, with 39-year-old Shelton on stage with his guitar while she waited in the wings. Another similarity was their strategy to only look at each other while they sang, which many viewers interpreted as extremely romantic.
The pair began dating last fall after both of their marriages unraveled. (ICYMI, Shelton was married to fellow country star Miranda Lambert since 2011 and Stefani was married to former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale since 2002. Both unions ended in 2015.)
Just two days before the Billboard Music Awards, Shelton shed some light on just how he ended up falling for his colleague so quickly (though he admitted he might have kept their status to themselves longer had that been a possibility).
